The bag
The shoulder strap and zipper pull on this Marc Jacobs bag had become worn around the edges, where the wax protecting the sides of the leather had pulled away, leaving the underlying leather exposed. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair the strap and zipper pull by glueing the loose leather back together and then re-waxing the edges.
Strap edging repair
We started off by sanding down the edges of the strap, in order to remove the layers of old wax. We then sealed any gaps in the underlying leather before re-waxing the edges with multiple layers of black wax.
Zipper pull repair
Unlike the strap, the zipper pull had not only lost its wax edging but also the layers of leather that made up the pull had come apart. We repaired the zipper pull by glueing these layers back together and then re-sealing the edges with the same black wax we used on the straps.
