The bag
One of the strap mounts on this Cross Check Burberry bag was torn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the strap mount with an entirely new leather mount that we would custom make for the bag.
Strap mount replacement
We began by removing the damaged strap mount and using it as a template for cutting to shape and size a fresh piece of leather that we specifically selected due to its similarity in colour and finish to the original leather. We then sealed the edges of this piece of leather with a specialist, thick edge paint that not only colours the leather’s edges but also protect the underlying leather from accelerated wear and tear. Before installing the mount, we undid the seam above it as this allowed us to access the cavity between the outer canvas and inner lining — so that we could then stitch the mount into place underneath (rather than through) the inner lining and hide the stitching on the interior of the bag. We then of course re-stitched the seam above the mount to seal everything back up.
