The bag
This Louis Vuitton Noe shoulder bag was in need of a refresh, with its leather parts showing significant wear and tear. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the top binding and base with new parts custom crafted from vachetta leather.
Base replacement
The vachetta leather around the base of the bag was heavily worn and too far gone to repair. So replacement was the best option.
We began by carefully unstitching the leather from around the base of the bag. We kept this leather aside and used it as a template in crafting new, identical pieces of leather from a hide of tanned vachetta leather like the original. We stitched these parts together and then on to the base of the bag — as the original parts were.
Top binding replacement
We followed a similar process in relation to the top binding. The process involved carefully removing the original binding, crafting an entirely new leather vachetta leather binding like the original, and then stitching this binding into place around the top of the bag.
Stap mount repair
The strap on this bag had come loose because a rivet on one of the strap mounts (the pieces of leather that connect the strap to the body of the bag) had popped off. We were able to repair the strap mount, and re-connect the strap to the bag, by simply replacing the rivet with an entirely new one.
