The shoes

The soles and heels on these Church’s Dubai Oxford shoes were worn down and in need of replacement. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a full resole, replacing the heels and soles with new pairs of premium, Joh Redenbach (aka “JR”) soles and dovetail heels.

JR leather full resole and reheel

Church’s shoes (including these ones) are constructed with a welt (the layer in between the soles and the uppers) which allows them to be readily resoled when needed. We began by peeling off the heel blocks, including the quarter-rubber heels, and carefully unstitching the old soles from the welt.

We then stitched into place a new pair of JR leather soles and nailed into place a pair JR dovetail leather heels (so named due to the shape of the rubber across the back of the heel). JR leather parts are a popular choice for Church’s shoes (and similar premium shoes) because their construction and composition offer significantly enhanced durability and comfort compared to regular leather soles.
