The bag
This otherwise immaculate Chanel Trendy CC bag had been chewed into around the bottom corner and underneath the front flap. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair the damage, patching the larger tear, fill the smaller gouges, and then custom recolouring and refinishing the leather.
Torn leather repair
Since the tear around the bottom corner of the bag was fairly large, the best option here was to install a leather patch. We started by selecting a piece of leather with a texture like the existing, and cutting it to size. We then stitched the patch into place around the torn leather. Unfortunately, the patch needed to be fairly large in order to properly seal the tears, but we followed the existing stitching lines, and then custom recoloured the patch to blend it in as much as possible.
Chewed leather refinishing
Luckily, the leather underneath the front flap was in much better shape. To minimise the visibility of these smaller chew marks, we cleaned and conditioned the leather to remove any dirt and debris before carefully glueing down the loose leather. We then used a specialist leather filler to smooth around the gaps that remained as much as possible, and finally recoloured / refinished the leather.
