The shoes
The Jimmy Choo Love 85 shoes were looking run-down, with the uppers dirty and stained, some of the crystals missing, and the leather soles visibly worn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean the shoes, replace the missing crystals, and install premium sole protectors.
Cleaning and stain treatment
We started by using a gentle brush to loosen any dirt and debris from the surface of the shoes. We then applied our cleaning agent and carefully worked our way around the uppers, taking care to be extra cautious when cleaning the mesh around the toes. Mesh is a particularly delicate material, and these shoes also had crystal embellishments sewn into the mesh, so we made sure to brush very gently, and avoid any abrasive rubbing.
While the results of stain treatments can vary from shoe to shoe, depending on factors like the cause of the stain and long it has been there, we were glad to see these shoes looking almost stain-free.
Crystal replacement
Some of the crystals around the tips of the toes had fallen off and gone missing, leaving the mesh there looking bare. We specially sourced matching replacement crystals and securely installed them on the shoes.
Protective sole installation
The leather soles on Jimmy Choo shoes are made of a particularly soft leather, so they tend to show signs of wear fairly quickly. Sole protectors protect the leather (and eventually the uppers) from wear, and also provide better grip than the original soles, which are quite slippery.
We prepared the leather soles by gently sanding the surface and then we installed the protective rubber. We used premium Casali sole protectors, which have a smooth finish and a nude colour that blends in well with the original leather soles. We finally trimmed away the excess rubber and smooth the edges by sanding them gently.
