The shoes
These Gucci heels were looking thoroughly worn, with the heel tips worn down and the metallic gold leather uppers having lost much of their original colour and lustre. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the heel tips and then clean and condition the leather uppers before recolouring / refinishing them.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and colour restoration
While the leather had lost a lot of its colour, due to regular wear — especially scuffs around the toes — the scaled texture of the leather also carried a fair amount of accumulated dirt. So we started off the leather restoration process by cleaning the leather to remove all impurities and conditioning the leather to ensure it was nourished and not too dry to properly absorb the new colour. We then selected a suitable gold metallic colour and use that to recolour / refinish the uppers, maintaining the original fade to brighter shades closer to the toes.
Heel tip replacement
With the old tips missing, we referred to the size of the heel block’s tip in selecting a suitable sized pair of rubber heel tips and installed them on the shoes.
