The shoes
The heels and soles on these Valentino Rockstud Ankle Strap Pumps were heavily worn, with the heel tips missing, the leather around the heel blocks torn and hanging loose, and the soles worn right through at the toes. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the heel tips, repair the heel blocks and repair the soles before installing a pair of rubber sole protectors.
Heel tip replacement
We removed the old worn heel tips and then carefully installed a new pair of highly durable rubber heel tips. While Valentino shoes often come with a pair of replacement heel tips, we find that they wear down faster than the aftermarket rubber heel tips we use.
Heel block repair
While we occasionally offer to re-wrap heel blocks with new leather, thankfully the leather around the heel blocks on these shoes was not too far gone to repair. We were able to simply clean the leather before glueing down the loose leather and using a leather filler to seal the remaining small gaps left by the tears.
Sole protector installation
We started off by repairing the existing leather soles, particularly at the toes where we built up the leather wear it had worn heavily. We then carefully sanded down a depression in the leather soles and fit into that ‘heel bed’ a new pair of rubber sole protectors. These soles are about 1mm thin and carefully shaped to match the shape and silhouette of the original leather soles, while offering far greater longevity and grip compared to the leather soles.
