Boot Resole Services
When the soles on boots inevitably wear down, it becomes necessary to resole boots. While boot soles can be repaired when lightly damaged or detached, replacement soles for boots are widely available and their installation is often straightforward enough to allow for an economical repair to worn boots that effectively restores their feel and appearance.
We resole all types of boots, including those with Goodyear-welted, Blake-stitched and cemented soles. And we use a range of premium leather and rubber soles manufactured by trusted brands — including Vibram, Goodyear, Dainite, Itshide, JR Rendenbach and TOPY.

Full Resole
A full resole on a pair of boots involves replacing the soles along the full length of each boot. Where possible (in most cases), the boot’s old soles are removed and replaced with entirely new soles. Where removal of the old soles would irreversibly damage the boots, we repair the original soles and then build them up to level them before reinforcing them with a pair of overlaid rubber soles — this is generally the approach when looking to resole hiking boots and heavier work boots.
Full Leather Resole + Reheel
We completely remove the old soles and heels before replacing the heel caps and installing a new pair of premium leather full soles
Full Rubber Resole + Reheel
We completely remove the old soles and heels before replacing the heel caps and installing a new pair of premium rubber full soles.
Full Unit Sole Replacement
We completely remove the old soles before installing new rubber unit soles with raised heels or a flat / wedge shape.
Full Overlaid Rubber Resole
We repair the original soles, levelling them before installing a new pair of premium rubber full soles over the top.
Half Resole
A half resole involves replacing part of the old soles (usually the part that touches the ground) with new leather or rubber half soles. The old soles are either removed entirely or repaired before being reinforced with a pair of overlaid rubber soles.
Half Leather Resole
We remove the old soles back to about an inch before the heels and then install a new pair of premium leather half soles.
Half Rubber Resole
We remove the old soles back to about an inch before the heels and then install a new pair of premium rubber half soles.
Half Overlaid Rubber Resole
We repair the old soles, building them up where they are worn and recontouring them before installing a new pair of premium rubber half soles over the top for reinforcement.
Related Services
If the soles on your boots are only lightly damaged or you are looking for extra protection for your new soles, consider the following services.
Boot Sole Repair
When boot soles are only lightly damaged, we can repair them rather than replace them. For example:
If stitched soles are coming apart at the toes, then we may be able to re-stitch them into place.
If parts of soles having broken away, then we may be able to replace those discrete parts of the soles.
Boot Sole Protectors
Sole protectors are thin, hard-wearing rubber soles made to be installed on boots with main soles that are prone to wear — usually (but not exclusively) leather soles. The protectors offer significantly enhanced longevity for boots’ soles as well as traction on otherwise slippery surfaces. The rubber is only about 1mm thin and specially shaped and installed to avoid disturbing the original aesthetic or silhouette of the boots on which they are installed.
Boot Toe Plates
Toe plates are installed on the front of wear-prone soles to protect them where they otherwise tend to wear fastest. These are available in rubber, steel or brass and either installed over the top of a new pair of soles or flush with the rest of the soles — in which case they do not stick out and make less noise while you walk.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's all very quick and easy — promise!
- Complete our online order form, where you'll be able to upload photos and describe the work you'd like done to the boots. You'll get an instant quote based on your selection and then choose to either proceed with an order or request a custom quote.
- Once we've reviewed your order, we'll email you instructions for getting your boots to us. If you live in Sydney, you'll have the option to drop the boots off at our workshop. Otherwise, you'll be able to drop them off at a local Australia Post office, where they'll be packaged and shipped over to us for free.
- Once we receive your boots, we'll resole and return them to you by courier.
The cost to resole boots varies widely depending on the actual work performed. A half resole can cost as little as $79 while a full resole generally costs $179. This pricing range covers the vast majority of resoles.
However, in all cases, the exact cost depends largely on the materials used and factors affecting the amount of time required to perform the work. For example, resoling boots with nailed soles is generally more expensive than resoling boots with glued or stitched soles. And opting for premium JR Rendenbach or Dainite soles, rather than a regular Vibram resole, adds $20–30 to the total cost of the resole.
Further work on the soles, such as the installation of sole protectors or toe plates for enhanced longevity, could add anywhere between $49 and $99 to the total cost of the resole.
Simply complete our order form to get a free diagnosis/quote based on your particular requirements.
The time it takes to complete a sole replacement varies depending on the particular work required and the workload in the workshop when the boots are received.
We are generally able to complete basic sole replacements within 1-2 weeks of receiving boots at the workshop. This extends to 2-3 weeks for most specialist resoles and longer for more complex repairs and restorations.
If you will be using our free shipping service (rather than dropping off and picking up your boots at the workshop), then you should also factor in shipping time via Australia Post. This varies depending on your location, but generally takes no more than a few business days if you're in a metropolitan area and otherwise up to 5 business days (if you're in a regional or remote area).
Once you submit your online order form, you'll be given a token that allows you to track everything online, throughout the process of getting your boots resoled.
And whenever your boots are in transit (whether on their way to our workshop via Australia Post or on the way back to you via courier), you'll have a parcel tracking number and receive real-time shipping notifications by email.
Yes, you can drop off and pick up your boots at our workshop in Martin Place, Sydney provided that:
- You first complete your order online;
- You let us know (in the order form or by follow up email) that you'd like to drop off and/or pick up at the workshop; and
- We have emailed you a ticket that you'll need to print out and hand over at the workshop for ID and proof of payment.
