The boots

The soles on these Dr Martens boots were worn, with the tread almost entirely flat. When the customer reached out to is for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a full resole, replacing the old soles with a new pair of premium Solovair soles.

Resole

The soles on Dr Martens boots are attached using a heat welded construction where the rand (with the yellow stitching) is permanently attached to the uppers. This makes the resoling process relatively complicated, as the rand cannot be ready removed or stitched into.

However, we were able to prepare for the resole here by slicing off the worn outer soles and stitching a new pair of full-length midsoles firmly into the footbeds. These midsoles provided a sturdy, flat base against which we could then install a new pair of premium, Solovair replacement soles. These are a premium option for Dr Martens boots, specially imported from the UK for their physical and compositional similarity to original Dr Martens soles.

This process left the boots with soles similar to the original soles in terms of their appearance and also a superior construction (i.e. with midsoles) allowing for easier and more economical resoles of the boots going forward.
