The boot

The soles on the Timberland hiking boots were made to be highly durable in the sense that the tread should not be expected to wear away despite years of regular wear. However, one of the soles on these boots had started coming apart from the body of the boots at the toes. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to re-secure the soles to the uppers.

Sole re-glueing

Re-securing soles to uppers on hiking boots involves more than simply glueing them back together. In order to properly adhere old rubber soles to the uppers, they need to be cleaned of any debris and have the old glue removed — both on the top of the soles and the bottom of the uppers. We then re-glue the surface of the soles and carefully ‘press’ the soles, with pressure across all sides of the soles. While this alone often allows us to achieve a complete re-adhesion of the soles, we occasionally end up having to inject glue into any crevices left after the pressing of the soles.
