The boots
These RM Williams Gardener boots were looking far from fresh, with the uppers looking dry and discoloured and the soles and heels heavily worn down. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a full resole and then clean, condition and polish the leather uppers to help get them looking and feeling fresh.
Full resole and reheel
We started off by removing the old soles and heel blocks and then carefully removing all of the old stitching through the Goodyear welt (the layer of leather between the soles and uppers). We then cleaned up the inner ‘midsole’ and installed a new pair of original RM Williams rubber soles and heels — unlike the regular Craftsmen rubber soles and heels, the ones used on these Gardener boots are treaded for improved traction.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and polishing
We thoroughly cleaned the uppers to remove all traces of accumulated dirt and impurities on the surface, and then we conditioned the leather to nourish the leather, making it more supple and healthy. We finally polished the leather to buff out the scuffing — especially around the toes — as much as possible. We used a pigmented polish to help restore some of the lost colour around the uppers.
