The straps on this Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Petit Bucket bag were looking worn and discoloured, especially at the top of the handles where carried. Leather strap replacement
We began by removing the worn straps from the bag — discolouration like this is a common effect of everyday wear with vachetta leather (used on many Louis Vuitton bags) because it is a natural and untreated leather, making it more susceptible to dryness and staining. We then stitched into place a new pair of vachetta leather straps made to match the design of the original straps.
Another characteristic of vachetta leather is that it darkens slowly over time — so we had to ensure the new straps would match the colour of the rest of the leather throughout the bag. The result was a fresh-looking bag, true to the original design.
