The bag
This Louis Vuitton Alma handbag was looking worse for wear, with the leather handles and clochette strap torn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the handles and repair the clochette strap.
Handle replacement
The handles on this bag were too worn to be repaired in this case, so the best option was to replace them with a new pair. After removing the worn handles, we selected a hide of black patent leather like the existing and crafted a new pair of handles using the originals as a template. Once the handles had been crafted, we installed them on the bag, looping the ends around the original hardware, and stitching them into place by hand.
Strap repair
Since the clochette strap was in good shape, and had only torn away from the bag, we were able to repair (rather than replace) it. This involved extending the strap slightly with a new piece of black patent leather — which we spliced into place in order to ensure it sat flush with the rest of the leather. With the strap repaired, we were able to then loop it back through the handle connector hardware to which it was originally attached.
