This Gucci Soho leather disco bag had lost its shape over a number of years, with the leather sagging around the top. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to reshape the leather, restoring the bag’s original shape.

Some leathers have a tendency to become dry and start cracking and tearing at pressure points. Other leathers — like that on this bag — tend to become very soft over time (generally no less than several years), causing the leather to sag and the handbags made of them to lose their shape.

We started off by removing the lining on the interior of the bag and using leather padding to firm up all sides of the bag, including the bottom and the top. This padding is made of thin but firm leathers that are light and do not noticeably affect the bag’s shape, softness or flexibility. With this padding in place, we then reattached the lining.
