The bag
The leather piping on this Gucci Disco bag had torn through on multiple corners around the bag. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the piping with entirely new leather.
Piping replacement
While repairing the original piping on this bag would have been possible, the fact that the piping was extensively worn, around multiple corners, meant that wholesale replacement of the piping was offered a better and more economical solution.
We began by undoing and removing the lining on the interior of the bag. We then carefully opened the seams around each side of the bag and removed the original piping. We selected a suitable replacement leather and from that cut strips which we then used to wrap a firm but flexible inner rope. With the new piping constructed, we then proceeded to stitch it into place and reconstruct the bag.
