This Louis Vuitton handbag had a pair of straps that served as handles but it lacked a shoulder strap allowing the bag to be carried on the shoulder. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to create and install a new, length-adjustable shoulder strap for the bag.
Shoulder strap addition
We started off by cutting to size a leather strap made from a premium leather like the vachetta tan leather originally used by Louis Vuitton in manufacturing the bag.
We then created by hand a pair of loops and installed a buckle, allowing the length of the strap to be adjusted as needed.
In order to attach the shoulder straps to the bag, we used the same type of leather used for the straps to create a pair of leather loops, which we used brass rivets to secure to the body of the bag and which carried at the end a brass ring, through which we looped the new shoulder strap.
