This classic hobo manufactured by luxury Madrid-based fashion house, Loewe, is a versatile everyday bag. But with time and regular use, the once firm and secure waxing on the edges of the straps on this bag had started to crack and tear. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to fully restore the existing straps by cleaning and conditioning them and then re-edging / re-waxing them.
Strap cleaning and degreasing
Before restoring the edging on the straps, we thoroughly cleaned the straps and removed the existing edging before cleaning up the frayed stitching underneath the edging. We also conditioned the straps to freshen up the leather — as unconditioned leather that has lost its suppleness would simply cause the edging to crack and peel off again.
Strap re-edging / re-waxing
To an expert's eye, the edging / inking on the strap of a luxury handbag is a mark of quality. And so we carefully removed the existing edging before applying by steady hand a new wax-based edge in a matching colour. Note that the edging can be made of other materials (like silicon) and can come in a variety of colours — sometimes contrasting with the leather on the straps.
