We prepared the original soles and cut a pair of thin rubber soles (about as thin as a 10 cent coin), carefully slicing them at the ends. We then glued these soles into place and slowly sanded them down to fit the shoes and sit flush at the ends and around the sides. In this way, we were able to protect the original soles without affecting the shoes’ original silhouette.
The Italian-made Casali rubber soles we used on this pair are made especially for Louboutins — based on the colour and glossy finish of Louboutins’ leather soles. These can be used on pretty much all Louboutin shoes, available for use alongside other options, like the red protective rubber soles manufactured by Vibram and Topy — which have a matte finish tend to offer slightly better longevity and traction than the Casali soles.
