The boots
The soles on these ECCO Rise Tall boots were heavily worn and starting to break apart at the toes. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a full resole — installing a pair of midsoles with durable rubber outer soles over the top.
Sole replacement
The soles on these boots were cemented into the uppers — that is, the outer soles were glued directly onto the base of the leather uppers. This sort of construction makes resoling boots difficult and often impossible, because the replacement soles would need to be virtually identical to the original soles in order to properly fit.
So rather than perform a standard resole, where we replace only the outer soles, we needed to completely remove the existing soles before cleaning off all remnants of the old cement / glue and then installing new midsoles into place and finally installing new outsoles over the top. Although this involved considerably more work than a standard resole, the boots were left with a far superior construction that made future resoles much easier and economical.
