These RM Williams Comfort Craftsman boots share the same lineage as the most rugged and sturdy of RMs, but as with all suede boots, this pair was particularly susceptible to stains. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, having spilled butter on his right boot, we offered to clean the suede and treat it with a stain remover.

Suede cleaning and stain removal

We started off by treating the stain with a special suede stain remover that is both aggressive and safe in the sense that it would not cause the colour of the suede to run. Having left that stain remover to do its things over several hours, we brushed away the residue and then proceeded to clean (shampoo) the suede uppers on both boots, helping to get them looking and feeling fresher (the stain aside).

We then re-treated the stain one last time, with the same stain remover, and let it rest. Once a few hours had passed, we again brushed away the residue and found that the stain had been successfully removed. It is normal for the suede around the stain to take on a lighter shade of colour after the stain treatment — this is generally unavoidable but tends to gradually disappear as the suede leather ages.
