The shoes
The soles and heels on these Prada oxford dress shoes were worn and in need of replacement. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to reheel the shoes as well as perform a half resole, with new leather soles that extended back to about an inch before the heels.
Half resole
We sliced off the front half of the old leather soles, back to about an inch before the heels (leaving alone the original Prada embossing), and cleaned away the old stitching thread. We then cut a new pair of leather soles and stitched them into place along the Goodyear welt — the layer of leather that sits between the uppers and outer soles. We finally sanded down the sides of the soles and coloured the leather to black, to match the colour of the original leather soles.
Reheel
We removed the old heel caps and replaced them with a pair of high-quality Vibram heel caps that are made from a high-grade rubber compound designed to be very hard wearing and yet comfortable.
