The shoes
These Dior Baby-D Mary Jane pumps enjoy the superior construction of all Dior shoes, but — as with any well-made item — were showing signs of wear, with the leather soles worn down and discoloured, the leather lining around the back of the shoes (the “heel counters”) torn and the insoles no longer providing the same level of comfort they used to. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to re-line the heel counters, replace the insoles and repair the soles, adding a pair of thin protective rubber soles over the top of the existing.
Heel counter re-lining
We started off by glueing the old lining around the back to the shoes back into place. Because this original lining remained weak, we protected and reinforced it by installing a pair of new suede leather heel counters over the top of the old ones.
Insole replacement
We removed the old leather insoles and then custom cut a pair of new insoles to match the shape of the old. We used a premium, soft leather with padding underneath, for greater comfort without the loss of the original leather’s premium look and feel.
Protective soles
We cleaned and smoothed out the old leather soles before adding a new pair of thin rubber soles over the top, offering far greater traction and protection — from both wear and discolouration.
