The shoes
These Chanel Lambskin Espadrilles were holding up well considering how susceptible espadrille stitching can be to wear and tear, but the insoles were worn and the rich navy blue colour on the uppers had gradually faded away, leaving the leather looking old and tired. When this customer reached out to us a for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the shoes before re-dyeing them to a navy blue colour.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and colour restoration
We started off by cleaning and conditioning the leather, to remove accumulated dirt, oils and other impurities, and to nourish the leather, making it more supple and likely to absorb the new dye we’d be applying to the leather. We then carefully applied a navy blue dye to the leather, doing so with multiple coats to ensure the leather fully absorbs the dye and the colour throughout the shoes is consitent.
Insole replacement
We removed the old insoles and then cut by hand, to match the shape of the old insoles, a new pair of insoles from a fresh piece of premium leather, which we glued into place on the base of the shoes.
