The bag
The saffiano leather on this A.P.C. Half Moon cross-body bad had become heavily scuffed and discoloured, leaving the bag looking a little shabby. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the leather throughout the bag before custom mixing a colour based on the existing and using that to recolour / refinish the leather.
Cleaning, conditioning and colour restoration
We started by cleaning and conditioning the leather to remove any dirt and impurities on the leather’s surface as well as nourish the leather to keep it looking and feeling healthy.
Discolouration due to scuffing on saffiano leathers is common, as the bumpy texture of the leather leaves the peaks exposed to damage from abrasion against the leather’s surface. But because the saffiano is a stronger leather, this scuffing often causes discolouration without seriously damaging the underlying surface of the leather.
Accordingly, we were able to restore the saffiano leather by recolouring / refinishing it with a paint custom mixed to match the bag’s colour.
