The shoes

The straps on these Louis Vuitton sandals were peeling and beyond repair. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the straps with a pair of entirely new leather straps.

In some cases where the straps of shoes are damaged, they can be restored. However, leathers are usually beyond restoration once they start peeling — on a pair of shoes like these, simply colouring over the damaged leather would not have offered a satisfactory option.

Strap replacement

We started off by removing the original straps and then cutting pieces of leather to match their length and shape. We then custom mixed a colour based on the original — in this case a metallic purple — and use that to recolour / refinish the new leather straps. We finally installed these new straps, securing them into place between the soles and insoles.
