SoleHeeled offers convenient and affordable Prada bag repairs by Australia’s best craftsmen, with free shipping to your door. This case study outlines how we recently restored a customer’s Prada bag.
The bag
The main badge on this Prada saffiano bag had faded, losing its original gold plating. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to replate the hardware to restore its original gold colour.
Hardware replating
We started off by cleaning the badge to remove all traces of impurities from the surface of the metal. We then used a special solution, which when combined with an electrical current, forms a hard-wearing layer of 24 carat gold on the surface of the metal to which it is applied with a brush. Having applied multiple coats of this solution, we then left the metal to dry before carefully polishing the metal with a special agent that also helps to seal in the new plating.
