The bag
This Louis Vuitton Ellipse bag was covered in mould, particularly on the vachetta leather and around the inner lining. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote we offered to clean and condition throughout the interior and exterior of the bag, and specially treat the bag to both remove the mould and protect against it going forward.
Cleaning and mould treatment
We began by cleaning the canvas and fabric lining and cleaning and conditioning the vachetta leather throughout the exterior of the bag. Cleaning vachetta leather is usually more complicated than cleaning leather of other types as the natural / untreated finish is more susceptible to staining and/or damage. There is also a limited amount of times we can clean vachetta leather in one sitting, to avoid it becoming dry and brittle (which can happen when too much of the oil is removed through cleaning).
We then treated the bag with a specialist mould treatment agent — this helps to remove all traces of mould as well as aid in the prevention of mould growth going forward.
