The shoes

The leather soles on these Jimmy Choo pumps had come apart, detaching from the uppers at the toes. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair the leather soles, reattaching them to the uppers.

Leather sole repair

We started off by peeling back the leather soles back to about when the shoes start to angle upward. We then clean the top side of each sole as well as the bottom side of the each shoe, removing all of the old glue. We finally applied a strong leather glue and brought the soles and shoes together in a soft vice, letting the glue properly set.

The original leather soles probably came apart due to taking the brunt of the wearer’s steps. We generally recommend that the leather soles on pumps be covered with a pair of thin, protective rubber soles over the top. These hold the leather soles in place, protecting them from wear as well as offering the wearer more grip / traction as they walk.
