The shoes
These colourful Christian Louboutin Pigalle Follies were virtually brand new, having been worn only once. However, even after only one wear, it became apparent why we generally recommend customers add protective rubber soles over the top of their new Louboutins red leathered soles. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to add a pair of these protective rubber soles.
Protective rubber soles
The red leather soles on Louboutins are notorious for lasting for a very short time — within a few wears, the red colour at the base of the shoes, where the soles lie flat on the ground, wears away entirely leaving the soles heavily discoloured. For this reason, we generally recommend that customers add a pair of thin protective rubber soles over the top of the leather soles as quickly as possible after purchase.
The rubber soles are about as thin as a 10 cent coin, are made especially for Louboutins, so they are red in colour, and they have small grooves to offer greater grip than the leather otherwise provides — which is especially helpful in wet weather. Most importantly, the rubber soles are made of a highly durable leather that doesn’t lose its colour with wear.
In adding these soles, we cut into the leather soles slightly and slice the ends of the rubber soles so that they sit flush with the original leather soles, leaving the shape and height of the heels essentially unaffected.
