The boots
The soles on these Camper boots were cracking and falling apart. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to replace the soles with a new pair of full-length rubber soles custom made to fit the boots.
Sole replacement
These boots were designed with cup soles, which are a type of sole that are specially moulded to fit the uppers and adhered into place around the bottom of the uppers. Because of cup soles are often made to fit exactly the footbeds around which they are installed, these types of soles are relatively complicated to replace.
In cases where we are unable to install cup soles that fit a particular pair of boots, we custom make our own soles. This process begins with the careful removal of the original soles. We then stitched a new pair of midsoles into place and installed ‘rand’ around the sides of the soles — where the original soles climbed up the sides of the uppers. Once these parts were installed, we adhered a new pair of rubber outer soles into place. This new construction allows for simpler and more economical resoles in the future, as the new soles can be adhered into place against the existing midsoles as needed.
