These RM Williams Sydney boots were in fairly good shape, but the ‘tan’ coloured leather uppers had been stained by a darker leather polish, leaving the leather discoloured. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a complete re-dye, changing the colour of the boots to a darker ‘chestnut’ brown.

Colour change

We began by thoroughly cleaning and stripping the leather uppers of their original colour, along with the pigment stains left behind by the polish. We then re-dyed the leather with a combination of dyes that together produce RM Williams’ signature chestnut colour. While leathers typically causes the leather to darken to some degree, this darker colour allowed us to both effectively conceal the remaining stains / discolouration in the leather and also produce a colour consistent with RM Williams’ factory colours. We finally conditioned and wax polished the leather to protect it and restore the leather’s original sheen.
