The shoes
These Christian Louboutin Kate 85 suede heels had seen much better days after the one of the heel blocks was wedged in an escalator and the iconic red soles were wearing away. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to re-wrap both heel blocks with new suede and install a new pair of red sole protectors.
Heel block restoration
We started off by detaching each of the heel blocks from the uppers, before removing all of the old suede around the blocks. We then cut fresh pieces of black suede for each of the heels blocks and glued them into place before re-attaching the heels to the uppers and replacing the heel tips. The result was seamless heel blocks with no indication of damage.
Sole protector installation
We began by sanding down the red leather soles across the base of the shoes, to create a ‘bed’ for the new sole protectors — a pair of glossy, red rubber half soles, which were installed over the top of the original leather soles, flush with the rest of the shoe. These Casali soles (made especially for Louboutins) are a popular choice for customers who want to enhance longevity and traction while retaining the iconic look of their red bottoms. The result was seamless red soles, that do not lose colour after every wear.
