The shoes
These Dior J’Adior slingback pumps combine excellent leather and fabric with the craftsmanship of Dior’s esteemed Italian atelier to produce a truly elegant and well-made pair of shoes. Unfortunately, the materials themselves are unprotected and prone to wear. And so a common issue we see, as we do on this pair, is the leather heavily worn down and the fabric beginning to fray, especially at the toes. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair the fraying fabric as well as the soles, adding a pair of protective rubber soles over the top of the existing.
Fabric cleaning and repair
We started off by cleaning the fabric to remove any accumulated dirt and other impurities, which are so easily embedded in fraying fabric and especially so when that fabric is in contact with the ground. We then specially treated the fabric to strengthen the fabric fibres and reposition them in place.
Leather soles cleaning and protection
We started off by carefully cleaning the leather soles, which were lightly stained. We then carefully sanded down the roughened leather before adding thin pieces of rubber at the tips of the toes, where the leather was most heavily worn. We finally added a pair of thin Topy rubber soles over the top of the leather, for extra longevity and grip
