The bag

The denim exterior of this Chanel Denim Urban Spirit Backpack was looking worn out, with considerable discolouration due to continued wear and abrasion around the straps and back. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the bag’s exterior before re-dyeing the denim to restore its original colour.

Denim cleaning and colour restoration

We began by thoroughly cleaning and conditioning the denim throughout the exterior of the bag, to ensure the surface was clean and free of any impurities such as dirt and dust. Cleaning the surface is an essential step in guaranteeing even and long-lasting re-dyes — otherwise, the dye may fail to properly set, causing the pigment to rub off onto the wearer’s clothes. Conditioning the denim also helps to prevent the dye from clinging to any dry patches and impacting the overall consistency of the new colour. We then carefully applied our specialist denim colourant throughout the exterior of the bag in seperate layers, before applying a final coat of our waterproofing / stain protection agent to lock in the new colour.
