This leather interior lining on this Celine Medium Triomphe shoulder bag has become discoloured, probably with dye transfer stains caused by other items stored in the bag. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the leather interior of the bag before custom mixing a colour based on the existing and using that to recolour / refinish the leather.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and recolouring
We first cleaned and conditioned the leather throughout the interior of the bag to help get it ready for recolouring / refinishing. Before doing that, however, we applied a dye transfer stain remover to the leather. Although we find that dye transfer stains do not generally come out unless they are treated almost immediately after they become visible, it’s always worth trying in case it allows us to avoid having to recolour / refinish the leather. The stain removal did not work in this case, and so we proceeded to recolour the leather — effectively covering up the stains.
