The shoes
These Valentino Garavani stilettos had been purchased only months earlier and worn a handful of times before the heel tips had come off and the leather around the heel blocks had become severely damaged. This is a fairly common occurrence with stilettos, often caused by the heels being worn through grass or otherwise caught in holes in the ground — the rubber heel tips are usually the first to come off, leaving the leather immediately above directly exposed and at risk of significant damage.
When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair the leather on the heel blocks, glueing down and touching up the discoloured leather before replacing the heel tips.
Heel repair and heel tip replacement
The first step here is to glue down the loose, torn leather back onto the heel blocks as cleanly as possible. We then install new rubber heel tips at the base of each heel block and use a silver coloured spray to lightly recolour the discoloured leather. The result is not a perfect restoration of the heels, but a satisfactory and cost-effective solution — particularly in light of the fact that sourcing replacement leather perfectly identical to the original was not possible while the silver spray happened to match.
