This Gucci canvas and leather tote had become badly worn on the leather corners around the base of the bag, with some light surface tearing and discolouration. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the leather throughout the exterior of the bag before custom mixing a colour based on the existing and using that to recolour / refinish the leather.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and recolouring
We first cleaned the canvas and cleaned and conditioned the leather throughout the exterior of the bag, including the base and the handles. By cleaning and conditioning the leather, we’re able to ensure that the leather is free of dirt and supple enough to properly absorb the new colour. Where the leather is more heavily worn, leaving the leather with holes, we used a leather filler to fill and round out the holes. With the leather in a proper condition, we then custom mix a colour based on the existing brown and use that new colour to refinish the leather throughout the exterior of the bag.
