The shoes
These Givenchy Urban Street sneakers had held up well structurally over about a year of use but had nevertheless become quite dirty and and discoloured. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to clean and condition the leather uppers, clean the sole edges, spot recolour/refinish the discoloured parts of the leather, and replace the laces.
Leather cleaning, conditioning and recolouring
We first cleaned the leather to remove all surface dirt and stains and then conditioned the leather to nourish it. At this point, we could see the remaining stains that couldn’t be removed other than by recolouring/refinishing the leather. Having identified those stains, we proceeded to spot recolour the leather to white.
We replaced the shoe laces with new white laces as the original laces were a little too far gone. And we finally cleaned the edges of the rubber soles. Notably, we didn’t recolour the soles — we advise against recolouring rubber as it generally makes the rubber feel artificially white / clean and does not set sufficiently well for the colour to last or to produce a natural look through gradual wear.
