The shoes
These Dunhill brogue dress shoes were well-worn, with the leather soles and rubber heel caps showing significant wear and tear. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to perform a full resole, replacing the heel caps and the soles with new pairs of premium, JR Leather rubber heel caps and full-length leather soles.
Full JR Leather resole
These shoes were constructed with a Goodyear welt between the uppers and outer soles. These welts are strips of leather that sit between the outer soles and uppers. This construction allows shoes to be readily resoled when needed, as the soles can be simply unstitched from the welt and replaced without affecting the rest of the shoes around the inner soles or the uppers.
We began by peeling off the old heel caps, removing the heel blocks and then unstitching the soles from the welt. We then installed a new pair of full-length JR Leather soles, stitching them into the welts. We proceeded to re-install the original heel blocks, and capped them off with a new pair of JR Leather quarter-rubber heel caps.
These JR Leather parts are made from oak bark tanned leather, known for its extraordinary durability and generally preferred by owners and makers of premium men’s dress shoes.
