The design of this Proenza Schouler PS1 crossbody bag — like all bags in the PS1 family — is inspired by traditional workwear satchels, but true to what one would expect from workwear, the bag had been well worn with the navy blue lambskin leather losing its colour. Leather cleaning, conditioning and colour restoration
We started off by cleaning and conditioning the leather. The cleaning removes all accumulated dirt, oils and other impurities, while the conditioning nourishes the leather, making it more supple. Together, the cleaning and conditioning effectively prepared the leather for restoration.
We then custom mixed a colour based on the colour of the original leather and used that to recolour / refinish the leather. Because the custom mixing resulted in pretty much a perfect colour match, we were able to restore the bag by recolouring only those parts of the bag that were discoloured — rather than the entire bag.
